The Contributor is a Nashville‐based street newspaper. Our work helps unhoused and low income neighbors build financial security and self determined lives through sales of a biweekly newspaper. We also have housing and healthcare teams that support Nashvillians through housing instability and healthcare access. The Contributor is adding new members to its Board of Directors for the 2025–2027 term.
What the Role Involves
Time commitment: Three-year term; attend six board meetings and two fundraising events per year and consider serving on a board committee.
Governance: Keep the organization focused on mission, review strategy and programs, and uphold legal and ethical standards.
Financial stewardship: Approve budgets, monitor financial reports, and ensure strong internal controls.
Fundraising and giving: Make a personally meaningful annual gift and use your network to open doors to new donors.
Executive support: Hire, support, and evaluate the Executive Director.
Advocacy: Represent The Contributor in the community and strengthen key partnerships.

Selection: The committee presents a slate to the full board for a vote at the next bimonthly meeting.
